FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring my younger / older children?

Our sessions cater for all children of school age (4-18). Families are welcome to bring siblings along, just pay for children who participate in the session. BAHE is unable to provide childcare facilities due to government regulations, but we can put you in touch with other families so you can make individual arrangements to share supervising of younger children/toddlers and participating children.

Some activities have age limits, which are in the descriptions. We may be flexible with these based on children’s individual needs, so please contact us if you would like to discuss further.

Is there any financial assistance for low-income families?

We continue to try and keep costs as low as possible by using parent volunteers, applying for grants, and fundraising. We do appreciate that this can be difficult for some families. You can help by helping us fundraise in a number of ways, including online shopping (more details here). You can also offer to help as a parent volunteer. Any requests for staged payments are dealt with by the Trustees on a case by case basis. Please ask us for more details.

Can I come and try a session before block booking?

We ask that all sessions are block booked and paid for in advance as the charity has to commit to paying our venues and coaches in advance. Towards the end of term, there are occasional opportunities to come to a trial session if there are spaces available. Please contact us for more details.

Can I leave my child with you?

Our sessions are often run by volunteers, who are also teaching their own children during the session. Adults will be expected to participate in supporting their own families except where explicitly stated. BAHE is unable to provide childcare facilities due to government regulations, but we can put you in touch with other families so you can make individual arrangements to share supervising of younger children/toddlers and participating children. We occasionally run events for older children where they may be left unaccompanied. These are marked clearly on the event information.
