1st and 3rd Fridays 2-3pm

Who are these sessions for?

These sessions are suitable for children of all ages who want to get creative with their writing and storytelling. The first session will be a story-telling session based on Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Think Shakespeare is boring? With magic everywhere and a donkey called Bottom, your child will disagree!

Want to inspire your child to put pen to paper, but they keep refusing?

Does your child has a love of literature, but you want to take it further?

Learning Outside the Classroom (ie outdoors) adds significant value to a child’s education, promoting confidence, problem solving skills and co-operation. It has a positive impact on mental health, and many children with SEN will thrive in an outdoor environment. In particular, outdoor learning experiences can boost writing skills.*

What will the sessions cover?

The initial session will be based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Possible activities will include fairy mask-making, storytelling, and discussing the characters in the play.

We will be making good use of the facilities that the park offers, including the stage and woodland areas.

Who is leading the sessions?

Our sessions are being delivered by a qualified english teacher, and assisted by a parent volunteer who has a love of Shakespeare and is a member of Institute of Outdoor Learning.

Where are the sessions?

The sessions will take place in Moss Bank Park. The meeting point will be emailed out to all attendees before the first session. In case of bad weather, we will put up a tarp, but please dress appropriately for the elements.

Important notes

This session is run by BAHE volunteers, and parents will be expected to actively participate to support the session leader as described in ours Bookings Policy.

For those interested, we are also running an Outdoor Maths session beforehand for children at Key Stage 2 level.
